This “stand alone” hands-on technique allows the practitioner to diagnose and treat soft-tissue injuries related to muscle, tendon, fascia and nerves. When trauma or injury occurs, whether from surgery, accident, postural distortion or repetitive strain, the body’s natural response is to form scar tissue. Scarring has a detrimental effect, causing tissues to change and adhere to themselves as well as to other related structures, creating pain and discomfort. Neuromuscular reeducation utilizes specific treatment methods to remove these adhesions.
Neuromuscular reeducation protocols treat the injury at the root cause and alleviate the problem for good. When you access the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and bones, you drastically increase your chances of solving the pain. (For more information, please see nmrseminars.com.)
Who can benefit from neuromuscular reeducation? This simple answer is everyone. It can help those who want to maintain or improve their flexibility, strength and balance such as athletes. Also, anyone with arthritis, muscles tears or fractures can find relief with this treatment option.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY
This Myofascial Release therapy is a gentle manual stretching of the body’s fascia (connective tissue), an interconnected, three-dimensional web of tissue that surrounds and penetrates all the structures in the body—muscles, nerves, organs, blood vessels and bone.
VARIABLE FREQUENCY (VF) ADJUSTER
This variable frequency adjuster therapy is a gentle manual stretching of the body’s fascia (connective tissue), an interconnected, three-dimensional web of tissue that surrounds and penetrates all the structures in the body—muscles, nerves, organs, blood vessels and bone. When fascia becomes restricted from trauma, repetitive use, postural habits, disease and emotional patterns, it can exert pressure and tension s in other areas. MRT restores normal elasticity to tissues, returning the sufferer to health and freedom from pain and other debilitating symptoms.
Who should try MRT? Those who suffer from back or neck pain, orthopedic conditions, repetitive-strain injuries (i.e., tendonitis), headaches and migraines, TMJ dysfunction, stress- and tension-related issues, neurovascular and immune disorders, and postsurgical dysfunctions.
Advantages of the VF Adjuster:
- Specific application of controlled force.
- Repetitive-impact capability with a range of frequencies.
- Less physically demanding than manual therapies.
- Reproducible and consistent adjustment.
- Effective joint mobilization.
- Ease in extremity adjusting.
- Stimulates at facets for
increased neuronal response.
- Safe and effective.
The Graston technique is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless-steel instruments to detect and treat areas exhibiting soft-tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.
Little known in the West, Gua Sha is a healing technique used in Asia by practitioners of traditional medicine, in both the clinical setting and in homes. It is similar to the Graston technique and involves palpation and stimulation of the skin with a round-edged instrument, resulting in the appearance of a fine rash, called “sha,” which fades in two to three days. Raising sha removes blood stagnation, which is considered pathogenic, and promotes normal circulation and metabolic processes. The patient experiences immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chills, cough, nausea, etc. Gua Sha is valuable in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper-respiratory and digestive problems, and many acute or chronic disorders.
Cupping is a very popular and painless procedure used in addition to, or as a substitute for, acupuncture. It involves creating a vacuum in a cup applied to the part of the body needing therapy. The vacuum gently draws the patient’s skin to the cup, which is then either left in place or moved in a massaging fashion. Cupping improves the flow of blood and qi, the vital invisible energy that is in every living thing. When qi (pronounced chee) is rhythmically flowing, you will be in better harmony.
A unique neuromuscular electrical-stimulation device that helps strengthen and elongate weak and injured muscles, TheraStim is applied and then the patient performs exercises to help strengthen and stretch the muscles, moving the affected body part in the direction of discomfort. This draws the electricity from TheraStim to the tissue, neutralizing the pain, restoring muscular strength and improving range of motion. It is beneficial because it allows the patient to work the muscles through the full range of motion without cramping and helps the body release natural painkillers (endorphins).
The infratonic device combines eight ultra-low frequency sound waves that penetrate superficial and deep layers of the body to dissolve cellular trauma of all kinds wherever your body needs healing. It works with all other modalities to remove barriers to healing without messy gels or pads or side effects.
EMOTIONAL RELEASE BODYWORK
Emotional Release Bodywork helps people connect more deeply with themselves very quickly. Through a series of yes or no questions, Dr. Brown helps patients access and release emotions stored in their body that no longer serve them. This work allows the heart to open up and patients to release years of subconscious fears, anxieties and negative beliefs, thereby becoming more present and free to live a more empowered life.
Undergoing Emotional Release Bodywork can be a rather cathartic experience: most patients will cry and embrace their newfound emotional clarity. As a result of such a profound experience, many other symptoms, such as chronic pain, are greatly resolved and energy is increased.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils, and similar aromatic compounds from plants to improve the patient’s mood, cognitive function or health. Dr. Brown uses aromatherapy throughout all treatment sessions because the aroma of essential oils can have a positive effect on the brain, especially the emotional (limbic) system. Using aromatherapy with the other modalities creates a deeper therapeutic experience for the patient.
Dr. Brown can design specific nutritional therapies/protocols—usually vitamins and minerals and amino acids—to further compliment your recovery from a variety of conditions, such as pain, lack of energy, fatigue and much more.
